Pie Jesu - Fauré Requiem
Mixti, formerly known as Helena Colindres is a non-binary fat disabled brown neurodivergent two spirit versatile vocalist. They are singing the fourth movement of the Faure Requiem oratorio which is a soprano solo under the baton of Thomas Beveridge. They performed this work with the New Dominion Chorale on April 28, 2024 on the lands of the Patawomeck peoples, colonizers call these lands Virginia.
This piece has the lyrics:
Pie Jesu Domine,
Dona eis requiem (sempiternam).
Which translates to:
Merciful Jesus,
Grant them rest (everlasting).
En espanol:
Jesus Misericordioso,
Concede nos paz (eterno).
Mixti is in a white dress with colorful flower embroidery from Guxgatan. They are wearing beaded jewelry with flower designs which were also made in Guxgatan: a medallion style necklace, earrings, and a bracelet that have white, orange, yellow, and black flowers with green and teal leaves. They are singing in in the front of a church and one can see the backs of some peoples heads in the first couple rows.
